Von Braun Center ('VBC') ... Sunday, November 17 5:30 pm "Mozart was also a prolific composer of Nachtmusik—“evening music”—intended to entertain wealthy aristocratic patrons as they socialized (without compromising the artist’s exacting standards of excellence, naturally). Several of Mozart’s multi-movement serenades employ wind instruments and may have been originally intended for outdoor performance, particularly on festival days; the quartets he composed for flute and strings were commissioned by Ferdinand de Jean, a prominent naval surgeon, amateur flutist, and a fellow Freemason."
