Madison Station Bar & Grill (often called The Station) is a spacious adult playground with lots to do. Besides an exciting music and dance area which dominates one half of The Station, there’s five pool tables in two uncrowded side areas, a separate sound isolated karaoke room, a wraparound bar with full drink service, an ample food menu and wall-size TV’s.
I paid a very reasonable $4 cover fee to the marked security personnel upon entering. After noticing the ATM machine to my left I was immediately impressed with my first look at Madison Station Bar & Grill.  It has to rank near the top as far as size of local venues. And maybe at the top in terms of spaciousness. It reminded me a little of SideTracks Music Hall but with more free area between tables.
There is a no weapons sign on the door, BTW.
The music/dance area to the left is colorfully lit and cheerfully decorated. The three-sided stage made me wonder how it might shape the band’s sound. Turns out the sound was great and if anything the unique stage shape helped.
I loved the dedicated dance floor, and one could see people seated near in anticipation of having some fun.  Band 347 led with ZZ Top’s Tush (“I said, Lord, take me downtown, I'm just lookin' for some tush”) and a number of people, mostly women, sprang up to do just that.
The centrally located wraparound bar kept its two tenders in high gear.  It took only a couple of minutes for me to taste a margarita on the rocks with lime twist. And not just one lime twist, but two! That’s class. :)
One note: The Station had gone non-smoking last year but went back to smoking now. As a non-smoker it wasn’t strong enough to bother me.
There were a few people in the enclosed karaoke bar area. The entrance door pretty much held the karaoke in and the live music out. For those who partake in such fun, the room looked like a good place for a couple or small group to have an enjoyable time.
I ordered an appetizer, fried mushrooms with dipping sauce. Yum. My tab was about $8 which included a diet coke. The food menu has a decent selection of typical bar food and sandwiches. I’ll have to order something more on the next visit. (Unfortunately an up-to-date food menu is not online so we can not link to it.)
There are two areas with pool tables, one at the opposite end of the music and one nestled stage left. Spacious.
I really liked Madison Station Bar & Grill. To be truthful, my online research about what to expect was not matched, it was well exceeded. The place was bigger, with a better attitude and a fun atmosphere then their Facebook page conveys.
Very much looking forward to my next visit.
