Pulling into the parking lot of the Sports Page Lounge and Deli on a Thursday at 10pm to hear 5 O’Clock Charlie perform, I cringed. Sports Page is located in strip mall along with a number of stores. Those other stores were “asleep” for the night but the parking lot was nearly full! We’re talking the entire length of the strip mall! I eventually found a space but the popularity of this community bar and grill was immediately evident. And that is a very good thing.
Inside were people of all ages, spread out in a surprisingly large space. You’ll find a beautiful, large raised stage positioned such that the majority of tables have a front row seat. The acoustic ceiling ably kept the sound from hyper-bouncing all over and the lighting was very intimate, except in the dart room, which I’ll describe shortly.
Sports Page is one of those venues that provides live music virtually every night, bringing in guest bands but also having a number of recurring performers. They publish a calendar chock-full of live music and then take the time and expense to have large posters printed of the schedule which you can find on every wall. Speaking personally – I have to say – they are really on top of keeping informed about events, and to me that means that management is on top of things!
In 2015 published an article that sums up better than I can about what they offer, especially in terms of food. Give Sports Page Lounge and Deli: Don't underestimate the food at this cozy, funky bar a read when you have a chance.
I ordered a Swiss Mushroom Burger. As this was my first visit to the ‘Page I was not sure what to expect.  After all, they have the word ‘Deli’ in their name.  Is that just for marketing, or is their food really a cut above?
I’ve only this one meal to talk about (read the article for more discussion), but it stood out – fresh add-ons, including lettuce, tomatoes and onions… and a bun and meat patty that were clearly quality. I’ve had food in bar and grills before that were fresh out of the cheap aisle. This was not one of them! It was excellent. As was the service.
There are a couple of pool tables and a larger, five board dart room where people congregate to have some fun while sipping their drinks. That area of the ‘Page is very well lit and very well used on the Thursday night of my visit.
I really like the Sports Page. The VIBE is excellent, service fast and friendly, the food delish and the live music set-up all combine to make this a community friendly place, which no doubt shares a cast of regulars. Among them now, me.
Note: Smoking is allowed.
